Local, Reliable Water Supply Program

Solutions for Local, Reliable Water Supplies

“We can expect imported water to cost more and more in the future and be less and less reliable.”

Drought and environmental lawsuits have led to cuts in imported water supplies. Developing smart and sustainable new local water supplies is more important than ever to make up for these losses.

Foothill Municipal Water District, working with the Foothill family of water agencies, has developed a local water supply program to meet the long-term water supply needs of our communities, and to upgrade the water system to reliably deliver the necessary supply. Key features of this plan include:

  • Developing new, local, reliable water supplies to help avoid drought shortages in the future, including recycled water.
  • Promoting conservation so that we avoid waste, and use the water we do have wisely.
  • Upgrading and modernizing aging pipelines, pumps and reservoirs to help ensure sufficient water supplies to fight wildfires and to maintain emergency water service following earthquakes and other disasters.
